John and Debra Basile purchased their farm in 2009. They and their 5 children fell in love with this beautiful piece of land surrounded by neighboring farms. The love of wine and the art of making it has been passed from generation to generation. Debra has a degree in Agriculture and is responsible for the business related activities as well as the wine making.
The 4 acres of grape vines were planted with the help of friends and family in the spring of 2010. Over the years, the varieties have been replaced due to weather damage or lack of viability. The current varieties, produce an abundance of fruit and are suited for the growing conditions in the Outer Coastal Plain. The vineyard includes: Chambourcin, Cabernet Franc, Gruner Veltliner and Chardonnay.
The Tasting Room opened in March of 2012. The Winery team has enjoyed welcoming neighbors, friends, and in and out of state guests. It is a fantastic experience to produce great wines from the fruit grown in their own vineyard or from neighboring farms. The story and the wines are personal. Each bottle of wine produced has been touched by the team from start to finish. The Basile children are actively involved and will one day be entrusted to continue the tradition and craftmanship. They will ensure the history of this family Vineyard and Winery will be passed to future generations.
In 2015 much of the vineyard was replanted due to weather damage. The Vineyard includes: Cabernet Franc, Chambourcin, Gruner Veltliner and Chardonnay. We purchase blueberries, cranberries, cherries, apples and more grape from neighboring NJ farms. The Winery is fortunate to be in an area where fresh fruit is readily available. Monroeville Vineyard & Winery is part of the Garden State Wine Growers Association and the Outer coastal Plain Association.
Our winery is located in the fertile grape-growing region called the Outer Coastal Plain in Southern New Jersey.
